This presentation provides strategies for implementing a culturally and linguistically responsive (CLR) mindset and skillset in serving multilingual learners (MLs) using the ML Statewide Strategic Plan. The tools and materials shared help participants understand the critical role of culturally responsive practices to eliminate opportunity gaps and to prepare MLs for college, career, and life by supporting their identity through whole child education and achieving academic excellence.

We’ll share how each district approached alignment to fit their budget, goals, and timelines. We will also highlight the commonalities, and the site-based adjustments that were necessary to fit each community: large, diverse AK district, a small, rural CA district, and mid-size, suburban OR district.
